About

A Little About My History

Back in 1981, I became a certified community advocate, helping my community. I started as a Tiny Todd group leader, raising funds to benefit low-income kids and assisting low-income families in areas I was trained in. In 1984, I received a certificate for my volunteer service from the University of Maine Cooperative Service, focused on helping kids learn to cook and understand proper nutritional values.

I then became the treasurer for the Task Force on Human Needs and a member of its board of directors. I also served as Vice President of the Maine Association of Independent Neighborhoods, working on pieces of legislation to help the community, and as Vice President of the American Legion Auxiliary in Lisbon Falls, helping veterans and raising funds.

I spent many years doing voluntary work in schools and received many awards, starting with Head Start and then at three different schools. I made costumes for plays, published the kids’ personal classroom books, provided fluoride treatment weekly for one whole school, and organized my favorite classroom crafts. I would do crafts for holidays and weekly crafts on the subject learned that week to help reinforce their learning. Now, at the age of 71, I bring stories to life.
