After decades of service to his government on missions around the world, Will Oleson has been forced into retirement. Now his days are spent photographing nature in northern Wisconsin. When the FBI calls on him for assistance with a simple photography job, things go terribly wrong.

Will is called back into service by the FBI to help stop a possible killer bent on revenge for an incident that Will was part of and occurred in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1996. Along the way, he is reunited with Kari Dahm, a TV reporter who was in the country at the time of the incident and may be in danger.

How many have died at the hands of the killer, and how many more must die? How has he been able to avoid detection so far? What surprises are in store for Will along the way?
