At noon GMT on an ordinary Tuesday, the sun pulses.
Across Britain, every adult simply stops. Not dead, present, breathing, upright in some cases. But when they look around, they do not know where they are. They do not know who they are with. They do not know what a city is, or a country, or a name. They have been emptied.

Within hours, the silence moves west. Egypt. America. China. Russia. Nation after nation swallowed by something that has no analogue in human history, because nothing like it has ever happened before.

Eight people, scattered across the globe, do not forget. They do not know why. They do not know each other, not yet. But something has chosen them, and it is already watching to see what they do next.
Then it speaks.
They call it the Supreme. It communicates through the sun's own signals, it knows things it should not be able to know, and it is not finished with them yet. Whether it is a guide, a gatekeeper, or something else entirely is a question none of the eight can answer, because the Supreme does not explain itself. It only asks what they will do next.

As the eight find each other and begin to understand the shape of what has happened, one thing becomes clear: they were not chosen by accident. And whatever is coming, it did not start with the sun.
