Born in Melbourne, Australia in 1935, Brian Kavanagh is an accomplished author, film editor, screenwriter, producer, and director of films and documentaries. 

  • Career: He is well-known for his editing collaborations with directors like Fred Schepisi on films such as The Devil's Playground (1976) and The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith (1978). He has also directed and produced his own films, including A City's Child (1971) and Double Deal (1983).

  • Awards: He was honored with the Australia Film Institute Award for Best Achievement in Editing in 1986 for his work on Frog Dreaming and received a lifetime membership of Australian Screen Editors in 1997.

  • Author: In the 1990s, he began writing mystery novels, including the "Belinda Lawrence Mystery" series, which currently spans multiple books.
